Dr. Phil is popular because he is simply a great communicator and this is one of my favorite, eye-opening books. As a trained psychologist, he explains human behavior with insight and and practicality. In this book, you'll learn about what he calls the "Payoff Principle" where we, as humans "do what works" even if that isn't what's best for us. There is always some "payoff" as to why we do even sabotaging things and understanding this principle can be the first step to defeating it. I loved his treatment of this issue because it helps us to understand ourselves. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to take stock of their life and really learn about some of the underlying motivations that we have and how to reframe these thoughts and change your life. Includes some detailed quizzes that are helpful. Highly recommend!
