As I've been preparing to formally kick off Lexi's first year of "formal" homeschool preschool, I first had to decide on a homeschool approach. After much review, I went with the thematic / unit-based "studies" approach coupled with a Montessori style of teaching. In order for me to have a clear vision for how we were going to proceed, I decided I wanted to pick my themes in advance for the entire year and model it based off a regular academic school year of four nine-week "sessions". If you are a homeschooling parent of a preschooler, feel free to download my colorful theme posters with the following units and themesPreschool Weekly Theme Ideas_coverpage:

They are organized into attractive "poster" format for each nine-week unit that you can post in your homeschool. The benefit of choosing these themes in advance is that now I have time to "fill in the blanks" and research, design and plan the actual activities that will go into each of these themes. Also now that I have these themes in mind, everything I do and everywhere I go and every purchase I make for Lexi has these themes in mind so that I can be procuring toys during birthdays, special occasions etc. that can essentially multitask and have a homeschool application.

 Enjoy!

XOXO,

Home CEO Maraya

P.S. We have these posters printed, laminated and placed on our classroom "bulletin board"
